How Layers Work in Slider Revolution 7
Every element on your slide — text, images, buttons, icons, and more — is called a layer. Understanding how layers work will help you build and organize your slider more easily. This guide explains what layers are, how to add them, and how to use the Layers panel to manage them.
Step 1: Open Your Slider
From your Shopify admin, open Slider Revolution.
Find the slider you want to edit and open it in the Slider Revolution 7 editor.
Step 2: What Is a Layer?
Anything you place on a slide — a heading, an image, a button, an icon, or a shape — is a layer.
You can stack as many layers as you need on a single slide, and each one can be styled, positioned, and animated on its own.
Step 3: Add a Layer
In the editor, select Add Layer to see the list of layer types you can insert, such as Text, Image, Button, Icon, and Shape.

Choose the type of layer you want, and it will appear on your slide.
Tip: You can add as many layers as you like, but keep your slide simple. Too many layers can make your banner feel cluttered and slow to load.
Step 4: Select a Layer
Click directly on a layer on the canvas to select it. Selection handles will appear around it so you can move, resize, or edit it.

Step 5: Use the Layers Panel
If a layer is hidden behind another one, it can be hard to select directly on the canvas. In this case, open the Layers panel from the top toolbar.

The Layers panel lists every layer on the current slide. Click any layer name in the list to select it, even if it's hidden behind other content.
Step 6: Reorder Layers (Stacking Order)
Layers stack on top of each other in the order they appear in the Layers panel. A layer higher in the list appears in front of layers below it.
To change which layer appears in front, drag a layer up or down in the list.

This is useful when a layer is unexpectedly hidden behind another one.
Step 7: Position Your Layers
Select a layer and move it to the position you want on the slide.
You can even drag the layer in the editor to position it.

You can arrange your heading, images, buttons, and other elements independently to create your desired layout.
Step 8: Check Your Layers on Different Devices
Switch between the available desktop, tablet, and mobile views to check how your layers are positioned.

Make sure important text, images, and buttons remain visible and properly positioned on smaller screens.
Tip: Always check the mobile view before publishing your slider.
That's it! You now know what layers are and how to add, select, and reorder them using the Layers panel.
