How to Configure Multilingual Sliders in Slider Revolution 7 (Shopify Multi-Language)

Selling globally across multiple countries and languages is one of Shopify's greatest strengths. However, showing an English hero banner to a French, Spanish, or German shopper creates friction and hurts conversions.

With Slider Revolution 7 (SR7), you can create fully localized slides for each language published in your store. When an international customer visits your storefront, Slider Revolution automatically detects the active Shopify language and displays the matching translated slide—all through one single slider shortcode!

Part 1: The Essential Prerequisite — Enabling "Use Multilang Settings"

Before you can assign languages to individual slides, you must enable the multilingual engine in your module settings.

Enable Multilang in Module Settings

Step-by-Step Activation:

  1. In the SR7 editor's top toolbar, click the Settings (⚙️) icon (Step 1).
  2. In the left navigation menu, click Module Configuration (Step 2).
  3. Switch to the Advanced tab at the top right of the panel (Step 3).
  4. Scroll down to the HTML SETTINGS section and toggle "Use Multilang Settings" to ON (Step 4).
  5. In the top-right toolbar, click Save.

[!IMPORTANT]
Why is this step required?
If "Use Multilang Settings" is toggled OFF, the Slide Language selector inside your individual slides will remain disabled or only display "Default". Turning this toggle ON activates the Shopify language bridge!

Part 2: Assigning Languages to Slides

Once the multilingual engine is enabled, you can designate specific slides for specific languages.

Slide Language Dropdown

How to Assign a Language:

  1. In the top toolbar, click the Slides icon to open the Slides Sidebar on the left.
  2. Select the slide you want to configure and click its Settings (⚙️) gear icon.
  3. In the slide settings panel, click the Multilang tab.
  4. Under SLIDE LANGUAGE, click the dropdown menu and select your target storefront language:
  • Default: Used as the primary slide for your default store language (and as a universal fallback).
  • Published Shopify Languages: Your store's active languages (e.g., English, Français, Español, Deutsch) will appear automatically in the list.

Building multilingual sliders does not require starting from scratch for each language. The most efficient workflow is Clone, Translate, and Assign:

Step 1: Build Your Master Slide

Design your complete hero slide in your default language (e.g., English). Finalize all background images, button styles, entrance animations, and mobile responsive layouts.

Step 2: Duplicate the Slide for Each Language

In the Slides Sidebar, click the Duplicate (📋) icon on the slide row:

  • This creates an exact 1:1 clone containing all your layers, styles, and animation timings.

Step 3: Rename Your Slides for Clarity

Double-click the title text of each slide row to organize your project:

  • Slide #1: “Hero Banner - EN (Default)”
  • Slide #2: “Hero Banner - FR (Français)”
  • Slide #3: “Hero Banner - DE (Deutsch)”

Step 4: Translate Text & Call-to-Action Layers

Click on your cloned slide to load it onto the canvas. Update the text layers with localized copy:

  • Headline: Translate into French (e.g., “Soldes d’Été — Jusqu’à -40%”).
  • CTA Button: Translate button labels (e.g., change “Shop Now” to “Acheter Maintenant”).
  • Currency / Badges: Adjust any hardcoded currency symbols or promotional banners.

Step 5: Assign the Matching Language

Open Slide Settings (⚙️) > Multilang for that slide, and set the Slide Language dropdown to Français.

Step 6: Save & Publish

  • In the top-right toolbar, click until the button confirms "Saved".
  • Click Publish to deploy the multilingual compilation live to your cloud CDN!

Part 4: How Shopify Routes Visitors & The Smart Fallback System

Slider Revolution 7 works seamlessly with Shopify Markets and multi-language subdirectories (e.g., yourstore.com/fr or yourstore.com/de).

Multilingual Routing Architecture

Key Architectural Advantages:

  • 1 Single Shortcode Across Your Entire Theme:

You do not need to create multiple slider blocks or write custom Liquid code. You add your General Slider or Dynamic Product Slider app block once in the Shopify Theme Customizer. SR7 automatically handles language switching on the client side!

  • Automatic Theme Language Switcher Detection:

When a shopper clicks your theme's language selector (or currency/market switcher), the slider instantly re-evaluates the active locale and transitions smoothly to the translated slide without reloading the whole page.

  • Smart Fallback Protection:

If a customer visits your store in a language that you have not translated yet (e.g., Italian), Slider Revolution automatically falls back to the slide marked as Default. Your storefront will never show a blank space or broken slide.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

1. Why does the "Slide Language" dropdown only show "Default"?

  • Check Shopify Languages: Go to Shopify Admin > Settings > Languages and confirm that your additional languages are set to Published (not unpublished or draft).
  • Check Module Setting: Verify that you followed Part 1 and toggled Use Multilang Settings to ON under Settings > Module Configuration > Advanced.

2. My translated text isn't updating on my live store!

  • Remember the Save vs. Publish rule: In the top-right toolbar, make sure the button says "Saved" (not "Unsaved"), and then click the Publish button (upward upload arrow). Live visitors only see published builds.

3. Does this work with third-party translation apps (Weglot, Langify, etc.)?

  • Yes! As long as the translation app utilizes Shopify's native locale API (Shopify.locale / ISO language codes), Slider Revolution 7 will detect the active language and switch slides automatically.

4. What about Right-to-Left (RTL) languages like Arabic or Hebrew?

  • When editing an Arabic or Hebrew slide, go to the text layer's Style tab and set text alignment to Right Align. Slider Revolution will render RTL text properly while maintaining responsive layout flow.
