Troubleshooting: Why Isn't My Slider Showing or Updating on My Store?
If your Slider Revolution module is completely missing, rendering as a blank space, or failing to reflect your latest design updates on your live Shopify storefront, don't worry! In 99% of cases, this issue comes down to one of four specific configuration settings.
This visual diagnostic guide walks you through the 4 most common causes and their quick 30-second fixes.
Quick Diagnostic Flowchart
Symptom on Storefront | Likely Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
Blank space or slider completely invisible | Theme App Embed is disabled | Toggle Slider Revolution ON in Theme App Embeds and click Save. (Check 1) |
Recent edits/changes not showing live | Clicked "Save" but forgot to click "Publish" | Check for the "Unsaved" state, click Save, then click Publish. (Check 2) |
"Slider not found" or broken placeholder | Shortcode mismatch or typo | Re-copy shortcode from SR7 and paste with no extra spaces. (Check 3) |
Dynamic collection slider shows empty/blank | Wrong App Block chosen OR no collection linked | Match Content Source to the proper App Block & select a collection. (Check 4 & 5) |
Check 1: Is the "Slider Revolution" Theme App Embed Enabled?
The Issue:
You added the slider block in your Shopify theme, but the area is completely blank, invisible, or missing.
Why This Happens:
For Online Store 2.0 (OS 2.0) themes, Shopify isolates app scripts for security and speed. If the Slider Revolution App Embed is disabled, Shopify blocks the Slider Revolution Core JavaScript engine from executing on your storefront.
How to Fix It:
- In your Shopify Admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
- Click Customize on your active theme.
- In the far-left vertical icon toolbar, click the App embeds icon (the third icon from the top).
- Locate Slider Revolution and toggle the switch to ON.
- Click the Save button in the top right corner of the Theme Customizer!

[!IMPORTANT]
Don't Forget to Click Save:
Toggling the embed switch alone does not activate it. You must click Save in the top-right corner of the Shopify Theme Customizer to write the change to your live store!
Check 2: Did You Press "Save" AND "Publish"? (Why Sliders Don't Update)
The Issue:
You modified your slider in the SR7 editor (changed text, replaced an image, tweaked colors, or edited a button), but your live store continues to display the old version or doesn't update at all.
Why This Happens:
Slider Revolution 7 uses a two-tier deployment architecture:
- Save: Writes your draft working changes to the internal database.
- Publish: Compiles and builds the production JavaScript, CSS, and asset package, deploying it live to the cloud CDN.
If you edit a slider and only click "Save", your changes remain in Draft Mode and will never push live to your Shopify storefront!

How to Fix It:
- Look at the top-right toolbar inside the SR7 Visual Editor:
- ⚠️ If the button says "Unsaved", you have pending edits. Click it once until it switches to "Saved".
- Once saved, click the Publish button (the upward upload arrow icon right next to Save).
- Wait for the Slider published 🎉 confirmation modal to pop up.
- Your changes are now compiled and live!
[!WARNING]
The "Unsaved" Indicator:
Always glance at the top-right toolbar before closing the editor. If the button says "Unsaved", your latest adjustments are not stored. Always save until it confirms "Saved", and then immediately click "Publish".
Check 3: Does Your Theme Block Shortcode Match Exactly?
The Issue:
The theme customizer displays an empty container, a broken block outline, or a "slider not found" message.
Why This Happens:
The shortcode pasted into the Shopify Theme Customizer does not match the slider's alias, has accidental trailing/leading whitespace, or has a capitalization typo.
How to Fix It:
- When the Slider published 🎉 modal appears in SR7, click the green Copy shortcode button:
- Example:
Glossy---Creative-WebGL-Slider-Templateorwoocommerce-slider
- In your Shopify Theme Customizer, click on the General Slider or Dynamic Product Slider block in your sidebar.
- Completely clear the Slider Shortcode field, and paste the copied shortcode.
- Ensure there are no extra spaces before or after the shortcode text.
- Click Save in the theme editor.
Check 4: Are You Using the Proper App Block for Your Content Source?
The Issue:
You installed a dynamic product slider template, but when you embed it, it shows blank or doesn't load any products. Or you built a standard image banner, and it fails to display.
Why This Happens:
Slider Revolution 7 modules have different Content Sources, and each source requires its matching Shopify App Block:

Understanding Content Sources in SR7 (Settings > Content Source):
- Static Content (
Custom Gallery): Standard images, videos, text layers, shapes, and hero banners built from scratch or standard templates. - Dynamic Content (
Shopify): Live product carousels, automated collections, pricing streams, and store catalog data. - Dynamic Social Content (
Instagram,YouTube,Vimeo,Facebook,Flickr): External live video/social media streams.
Matching Content Sources to the 3 Shopify App Blocks:
When you click Add block under Template > Apps in the Shopify Theme Customizer, you must choose the block that matches your module's source:

Module Content Source in SR7 | Required Shopify Theme App Block | Typical Use Case |
|---|---|---|
Custom Gallery (Static) |
| Hero banners, promotional image sliders, WebGL effects, video backgrounds. |
Shopify (Dynamic) |
| Product carousels, best seller showcases, collection loops, automated pricing. |
Countdown Timer Module |
| Flash sale timers, launch countdown banners. |
[!CAUTION]
Common Mistake:
If you built a Dynamic Product Carousel linked to Shopify products, but you choose the General Slider app block in your theme, the slider will render blank because the General Slider block lacks the Shopify Collection data bridge! Always use Dynamic Product Slider for product feeds.
Check 5: For Dynamic Product Sliders, Did You Select an Active Collection?
The Issue:
You used the Dynamic Product Slider app block and pasted the correct shortcode, but the carousel still shows nothing.
Why This Happens:
A dynamic product slider requires a data source. If the Collection setting is left unselected or linked to an empty collection, the slider has no products to render!

How to Fix It:
- In the Shopify Theme Customizer, select your Dynamic Product Slider block.
- In the right settings panel:
- Paste your shortcode into Product Slider Shortcode (e.g.,
woocommerce-slider).
- Under Collection, click the dropdown / Select button.
- Choose an active collection that contains published, in-stock products (e.g.,
Hydrogen,Automated Collection, orAll Products). - The live preview will immediately populate with real product photos, titles, prices, and Add-to-Cart buttons!
- Click Save in the top right corner.
Summary Checklist (The 2-Minute Diagnostic)
Before contacting support, verify these 5 steps in order:
- [1]. App Embed: Is Slider Revolution toggled ON under Theme Customizer > App embeds, and did you click Save?
- [2]. Saved & Published: In the SR7 editor, does the top button say "Saved" (not "Unsaved"), and did you click the Publish button?
- [3]. Shortcode Match: Did you copy the exact shortcode from the Publish modal without leading or trailing spaces?
- [4]. Correct App Block: Did you select General Slider for static banners, or Dynamic Product Slider for collection carousels?
- [5]. Collection Selected: For dynamic product sliders, is an active collection with in-stock products assigned in the block settings?
- [6]. Browser Cache Refresh: If updates aren't appearing immediately on your live storefront, press
Ctrl + F5(Windows) orCmd + Shift + R(Mac) to bypass local browser cache.
