# How to Publish & Unpublish Slides in Slider Revolution 7 (Manual & Scheduled)

Whether you are preparing a work-in-progress design, taking down an expired seasonal promotion, or scheduling a 48-hour flash sale banner, **Slider Revolution 7 (SR7)** provides built-in tools to publish, unpublish, and automate slide visibility on your Shopify store.

This guide explains how to manually toggle slides between **Published** and **Unpublished (Draft)** status, schedule automated launch and expiration dates, and hide slides conditionally based on device or loop count.

### Understanding the 3 Slide Publishing Modes

Slider Revolution offers three distinct ways to manage slide visibility:

![Slide Publishing Modes Comparison](https://storage.crisp.chat/users/helpdesk/website/-/c/9/f/1/c9f13477e739a800/image_ozbck4.png)

| Mode | Storefront Status | Ideal Use Case |
| ---- |
| **🟢 Published** | **Active & Live** | Plays normally in the slideshow sequence for all visitors. |
| **⚪ Unpublished (Draft)** | **Hidden from Storefront** | Kept 100% safe in the editor for designing, but skipped on your live store without deleting layers. |
| **⏱️ Scheduled (From / To)** | **Automated Visibility** | Automatically goes live on a start date and automatically unpublishes on an end date. |

---

## Method 1: Manually Publishing & Unpublishing a Slide (Draft Mode)

When you are designing a new slide and aren't ready for customers to see it yet—or when a promotion ends and you want to temporarily take down the slide without deleting your hard work—use the **Publish Status** setting.

### Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. In the top toolbar, click the **Slides** icon to open the **Slides Sidebar** on the left.
2. Locate the slide you want to hide or reveal, and click its **Settings (⚙️)** gear icon.
3. In the configuration panel that opens on the right, click the **Scheduling** tab.
4. Under **PUBLISH**, click the **Status** dropdown:
* Select **Unpublished** (or Draft) to immediately hide the slide from your storefront.
* Select **Published** to reactivate the slide.
5. In the top-right toolbar, click **Save**, and then click **Publish** (see [The Golden Rule](#the-golden-rule-always-click-save--publish)).

> [!NOTE]
> **Does Unpublishing Delete Any Content?**
> **No!** When a slide is set to *Unpublished*, all of its layers, text styling, background media, animations, and responsive settings remain 100% intact in your visual editor. You can re-publish it at any time with a single click.

## Method 2: Automated Time-Based Scheduling (Auto-Publish & Auto-Unpublish)

If you run weekend promotions, Black Friday deals, or holiday events, you don't need to stay up until midnight to manually publish or take down slides. You can schedule slides to turn on and off automatically.

### How to Schedule a Slide:
1. Navigate to `Slides > Settings (⚙️) > Scheduling`.
2. Under **SCHEDULE**, switch the toggle to **ON**.
3. Configure your automated visibility window:
* **From:** Select the exact start date and time when the slide should automatically appear on your live store.
* **To:** Select the exact expiration date and time when the slide should automatically unpublish.
4. Outside of this date/time window, Slider Revolution automatically skips this slide during playback.

## Method 3: Conditional Unpublishing (Device & Loop Limitations)

In addition to date-based scheduling, you can unpublish or hide slides under specific browsing conditions via the **Schedule** tab.

Open `Slides > Settings (⚙️) > Schedule` to access these smart visibility controls:

* **Hide on Mobile:**
Toggle this **ON** to automatically unpublish the slide on smartphone screens while keeping it active on desktop monitors. This is ideal for resource-heavy 3D or video slides that might slow down mobile loading.
* **Hide After "n" Loops:**
Set a number (e.g., `2` or `3`). The slide will play during the first few loops of the slideshow and then automatically unpublish itself for the remainder of the visitor's session, keeping your hero section fresh.
* **Hide from Navigation:**
Keeps the slide playing in the automatic rotation, but hides its dot/arrow indicator from navigation controls.

## The Golden Rule: Always Click "Save" AND "Publish"

Whenever you change a slide's status to **Unpublished**, set a schedule, or turn on mobile hiding, you must push those changes to Shopify's live cloud CDN.

![Top Bar Save and Publish Buttons](https://storage.crisp.chat/users/helpdesk/website/-/c/9/f/1/c9f13477e739a800/image_df20r3.png)

1. Look at the top-right toolbar in the SR7 Visual Editor:
* If the button says **"Unsaved"**, click it once until it confirms **"Saved"**.
2. Immediately click the **Publish** button (the upward upload arrow icon right next to Save).
3. Once the **"Slider published 🎉"** confirmation dialog appears, your updated slide status is compiled and live on your Shopify storefront!

> [!WARNING]
> **Why is Clicking "Publish" Mandatory?**
> Simply changing a slide's status to *Unpublished* in the sidebar only updates your draft database. If you do not click **Publish**, the live store will continue serving the previously cached playlist, and your unpublished slide will remain visible to visitors!

## Frequently Asked Questions

### 1. Can I unpublish all slides in a module?
No. A slider requires at least **one published slide** to render on your storefront. If all slides are unpublished or expired, the module will render as an empty container.

### 2. My slide's scheduled "To" date passed, but it's still showing on my store. Why?
If a slide fails to auto-hide when its schedule expires:
1. Open the SR7 editor and click the top-right **Publish** button to refresh the server build.
2. Clear your browser cache or perform a hard refresh (`Ctrl + F5` on Windows / `Cmd + Shift + R` on Mac).

### 3. How do I know which slides are currently published?
In the **Slides Sidebar**, click through your slides. Slides set to **Published** show active status under `Settings > Scheduling`. You can also preview individual slides by clicking the **Preview (🔍)** icon on each slide row.
