Getting Started: Creating Your First Module from the Shopify Dashboard


This guide walks you through accessing Slider Revolution 7 inside your Shopify Admin, understanding the dashboard interface, and creating your first module using Templates, the Quick Start Generator, or from Scratch.



1. Accessing Slider Revolution in Shopify


To open Slider Revolution 7:


  1. Log in to your Shopify Admin.
  2. In the left-hand navigation sidebar, look under the Apps section.
  3. Click on Slider Revolution.

2. Dashboard Interface Overview


The Slider Revolution 7 dashboard provides an all-in-one management hub directly embedded inside your Shopify Admin:


① Apps Sidebar

Quick access to Slider Revolution and the Onboarding setup wizard.


② Main Navigation Bar

Located across the top of the dashboard:

  • Settings: Global app defaults, caching options, and custom CSS/JS libraries.
  • Modules: View, organize, and manage all your created sliders, banners, and carousels.
  • Templates: Browse pre-designed hero banners, product sliders, and seasonal templates.
  • Addons: Enable advanced visual effects (e.g., particles, reveal transitions, 3D distortion).
  • Go Dark / Light: Toggle between Dark Mode and Light Mode for your dashboard.
  • Plan & Limits: Shows your active plan and module usage limit.
  • Live Chat: Direct access to Slider Revolution customer support.


③ Theme Editor — Preview Mode Banner

  • Every new store can create and preview 1 slider inside the Shopify Theme Editor for free.
  • To publish your sliders to your live storefront for visitors to see, click Unlock Publishing.


④ Module Creation Workspace

The primary staging area where you can start a new project from scratch or import existing modules.



3. Creating Your First Module (Step-by-Step)


Step 1: Click "Create Your First Module"

Under the Create Your First Slider Revolution Module section, click on the Create Your First Module card:

(Alternatively, if you already have an exported .zip slider package from another store or WordPress, click Import Module to upload it).



Step 2: Choose How to Start Your Module

Immediately after clicking the card, the "How would you like to start your module" modal appears with three creation pathways:

Step 3: Select Your Creation Pathway


Follow the instructions below based on which option you choose:


Option 1: Use a Pre-built Template

Clicking Use a Pre-built Template opens the full Templates Library:

  1. Browse Categories: Use the left sidebar to filter by Hero, Slider, Carousel, One Pager, Dynamic Content, or Special Effects.
  2. Search & Filter: Search for specific layouts or sort by Newest First, Top Downloaded, or Favorites.
  3. Import: Click on your desired template card to preview it, then click Import to add it to your dashboard.



Option 2: Quick Start Generator

Clicking Quick Start Generator opens the Generate your Module visual assistant:

  1. Select Module Type: Choose Hero, Slider, or Carousel at the top.
  2. Pick Slide Layout Presets: Browse pre-styled design variations (e.g., Center Align Dark Bold, Center Align Dark Fine, Layout Three Light Bold). Click on one or more slides to include them.
  3. Configure Settings (Bottom Toolbar):
  • Size: Select Full Width or Full Screen.
  • Transition: Select your transition style (e.g., Slide Animation).
  • Navigation: Choose Bullets & Arrows, Tabs, or None.
  • Auto Play: Toggle automatic slide progression on or off.
  1. Click the blue Select Slide(s) To Continue button to generate your module.



Option 3: Start from Scratch

Clicking Start from Scratch skips extra configuration steps:


  • A blank module named "New Slider" is instantly created and appears under Your Modules:

  • Quick Action Toolbar: Clicking the arrow on the module title bar expands useful management shortcuts:
  • Embed: View embedding instructions.
  • Export: Export the slider as a .zip file.
  • Duplicate: Clone the module.
  • Preview: Test the module in a browser tab.
  • Rename: Change the slider name.
  • Thumb: Set a custom preview thumbnail.
  • Delete: Remove the module.



Step 4: Open the Module in the SR7 Visual Editor


Once your module appears in the Your Modules list:


  1. Hover your cursor over the module preview card.
  2. A blue circular Edit (Pencil) button will appear in the center:

  1. Click the Pencil icon.
  2. The cloud-based SR7 Visual Editor (editor.revsliderapp.com) will launch, giving you full visual control over layers, keyframes, and interactions.



4. Previewing vs. Publishing


[!NOTE]

  • In Preview Mode: You can insert your slider into the Shopify Theme Customizer to see exactly how it looks with your store's live theme, header, and fonts.
  • Live Storefront: In order for live visitors to see your slider on your public domain, your store must have an active plan.
